Emma and Blake’s intimate micro wedding at the Toronto Golf Club is yet another chapter in the story that is their classic romance. The two met the old-fashioned way, through mutual friends at a backyard summer barbecue. Their first date? Dinner and a movie. Considered classics for a reason: they’re timeless choices! When Blake got down on one knee (See? Again with the classic fairytale romance!), it was at a spot that the couple held dear over the years: the small wooden dock near his family’s cottage. With their dog Thunder standing witness, Blake asked, and Emma answered “Yes!”

Emma and Blake consider themselves adventurers. Travelling to new places and exploring the outdoors with Thunder by their side. This quality came in incredibly useful when planning a wedding during the pandemic. “It was an adventure! COVID-19 threw us many, many curveballs.” Emma shared. In spite of the uncertainty, the two kept their eyes on the prize: one day being married. After having to change their plans a handful of times, the couple’s dream day became a reality in the form of an intimate micro wedding.

The couple chose the Toronto Golf Club for their small wedding not just for its beauty, but because it is a familiar space. With Blake being an avid golfer, they’ve spent lots of time there over the years. The location held an existing connection and fond memories for the pair -serving as a beautiful, traditional, and timeless choice for Emma and Blake’s special day

Alongside their team of planners at All That Jaz Weddings, the couple created a vision of their wedding day that was classic, elegant, and timeless - not tied to any particular trend, but effortlessly beautiful all the same. “What would have worked 50 years ago, and still will work 50 years from now.” This was the barometer from which Emma and Blake considered each aspect of their wedding day aesthetic.

The event took place outdoors, on the green, and surrounded by beautiful foliage beginning to change colours with the season. The sun shined through lacy boughs on pine trees, casting beautiful natural light on the couple as they said their “I do’s” and creating editorially brilliant moments for our team of Toronto wedding photographers to capture.

The palette for the day - soft pinks, shades of white, with light touches of romantic, deep autumnal hue - wasn’t just classically beautiful, it was significant to the family. The couple worked with Bellwood Blooms to create both beautiful and meaningful arrangements for their intimate micro wedding at the Toronto Golf Club. Subtly incorporated into main elements of the decor - from the stationary and invitations to the florals to the colour scheme - were roses. In the bouquets held by Emma and her pretty-in-pink bridesmaids, in the stunning canopy of blooms that framed the couple during their ceremony, and the hues that graced each element of the wedding, you’ll find roses - in honour of Emma’s late mother, Rose Anne. A beautiful and special touch that let the couple feel her presence, gracing every turn on their wedding day.

Having to change their wedding plans to fit COVID-19 restrictions meant the couple was given the opportunity to create an intimate micro wedding at the Toronto Golf Club, where their guests would be treated to a very unique and special celebration of closeness. When asked what made their small wedding so special, the couple’s list was endless. “The feeling of being surrounded by all the dearest people in our lives; that each one of our guests had the opportunity to spend time and get to know one another, a relaxed atmosphere.” were all elements that made this day unforgettable.

Sharing in this close knit celebration with Emma and Blake offered a unique opportunity for our team of Toronto photographers to tell the story of this couple, their family, and their friends. The relaxed and intimate atmosphere let us capture the day and each person’s shared happiness - every laugh, every smile, and every tender moment in a candid, close style. With a classically (and naturally) beautiful backdrop and such a stunning couple as our muses, the collection of timeless memories we captured are at the same time editorial and fashion forward, while still getting to the essence of the couple’s soft and loving sensibilities - their fun-loving spirit.

To be a part of such a special joy, a celebration that was forced to evolve, and still felt like a dream - once again proved that not only is true love timeless, but it always prevails.
